Life should be the greatest treasure for any creature, but sometimes that word can be synonymous with the cruelest suffering.
That is exactly what Maximus’s existence had become, a furry boy in the hands of a negligent and cruel owner who, far from protecting him, made his days hell.
Abuse goes beyond physical aggression.
Many people believe that violence against pets is exerted only through physical acts but they forget that negligence is undoubtedly one of the worst blows that a furry can receive.
That was the reality that this mestizo was going through, confined in a super narrow space and also tied by a chain, his freedom was nil.
The poor man begged without being heard.
The portion of the house that this creature inhabited was in total filth, its food was old and full of flies and worms, due to the dog feces that were around.
With such a cramped and confined space, Maximus had no chance to defecate anywhere other than where he spent much of the day. In addition, the visit of his owner was sporadic.
That was no life for anyone.
The owner seemed to have had a shred of humanity at some point, as there was an old doghouse on the site. However, it was equally dirty and deteriorated.
It gave the impression that the furry had not received a visit for a long time and if it were not for the neighbors’ complaint, no one would know that it was now from this dog.
The poor guy was even aggressive during the rescue.
Animal Rescue received the alert about this case and went to investigate but they were totally unaware of the magnitude of the problem.
Maximus was a prisoner in his own “home” and with high levels of stress, as soon as he saw that help had arrived he seemed to want to throw himself from the bars.
The poor man begged the rescuers to save his life but that would not be possible.
The Animal Rescue volunteers could not do anything during that first visit because they did not have the necessary tools to carry out that type of rescue, but they would not forget him either.
Shortly after that first encounter, the rescuers returned for Maximus and would not leave the scene without him.
The volunteers managed to cut the puppy’s chains and were ready to take him with them, but the mistreatment Maximus had suffered upset him.
When the dog saw the leash, he thought that they would hurt him again and resisted hard so that they would not tie him again, however, he ended up giving in and understanding that they only wanted to help him.
“You are now free, my friend.”
This boy put up a bit of a fight but through a recording that Animal Rescue shared about the rescue, it is seen how Maximus is finally transported to a shelter inside a small cage. No one wanted to hurt him but it was necessary to control all his energy and stress.
Now the puppy is safe and understands that everything he had lived through was part of his past, no one else can attack him.
Maximus recovers from his emotional injuries and is in a shelter sharing with other furry ones until he finds a loving family. His caregivers have described him as a “playful boy by nature”.
