This Lonely Dog Spent 2,531 Days At Shelter Waiting For Someone To Love Her

There are still some dogs that are occasionally overlooked by potential adopters, despite the shelter’s best efforts. Dahlia is one such dog. The American Staffordshire Terrier Mix has lived her whole life at the Humane Society in Santa Barbara.

Dahlia came to the Humane Society when she was only 6 months old. When she was 7 years old, volunteers at the shelter were still looking for her a forever home.

One of the shelter volunteers posted an adorable video of Daliah showing her enjoying all the attention and commented, “She is a really sweet, smart, loving, loyal big lap dog … Looking for a great single pet home for her. She will make someone really happy!”

As soon as the video of Daliah went viral on social media, Daliah found a loving home. A man from Orange County saw her story on the news and drove to the shelter to meet her.

The Humane Society could not be more happy. In a statement they said, “We are over the moon! For all of you that asked about how Dahlia is doing…she has found her forever home!! Thank you to everyone that shared her story and reached out to us!”

Please share Daliah’s story and help encourage others to adopt overlooked dogs like her.
