Dog left outside of shelter, blind and hurt, as “Christmas present”

Although Christmas is a time when unity and harmony must prevail, it is also an important day for pets. This is one of those times of year when many animals are often considered a gift too.

Sometimes, the person who receives the wonderful treasure that a pet symbolizes in their hands is aware of their responsibility and is ready to take care of it. But the reality is that at least 30 percent of the animals given away at Christmas end up in the street .

SOSD Dog Adoption is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to the welfare of Singapore’s many stray dogs. Just before Christmas this year 2020, a group of its members found a small Shih Tzu puppy left to its fate outside the shelter .

The poor little animal showed signs of having been mistreated. The truth is that he was in undignified and deplorable conditions , struggling to recover with the little strength he had left.

The indolence of his former manager had caused him a serious infection in his eyes until he was completely blind, and his body was full of scars.

“We received a very disturbing Christmas ‘gift’ 2 months ago: a Shih Tzu that was left alone outside our shelter . He was in very bad condition.

As a result of severe neglect, her eyes were infected and scarred , causing her total blindness,” said Siew Tuck Wah, founder of SOSD Singapore.

Thanks to the animal organization of the Asian country, always vehemently opposed to the sacrifice of stray animals, the canine finally found a new path of hope . It is truly remarkable what a little love and tenderness can do for a dog in need.

“Thanks to the hard work of the SOSD team, Christmas has undergone a metamorphosis for this little dog that none of us could have imagined,” added the organization’s founder and volunteer.

For these rescuers, there is a more humane way to manage this problem. The dog shelter exists to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome homeless dogs with the aim of giving them a second chance at life.

If you’re an animal lover with a passion for our furry friends, there are many ways you can get involved and help give these beautiful creatures a chance to find their forever home.

Whether it’s adopting a dog, volunteering at a shelter, donating, becoming a sponsor or even being a foster parent while the animals wait for their permanent home.

There are many ways to show our affection to the most innocent and vulnerable creatures.

Along with outreach projects, the main goal is to improve welfare and make Singapore a more pet-friendly and tolerant place. Share this story with your friends and family.
