During the holidays, we all long for a gift that makes us happy . We do away with suggesting goals to start a year that many times don’t last until the first weeks of January. “This year I will join a gym” or “I will stop drinking”, are some of the most cliched and unsatisfying, even somewhat funny things.
For some people, this overzealous but short-lived outpouring also extends to their desire to own a pet , regardless of whether they will actually be able to take care of that animal.
Having an animal at home is not a game , but for some it seems that it is. Once they have them, they realize that maintaining them is a lot of work and they simply throw them away.
This was precisely the reality that the Stray Rescue of St. Louis pet shelter, located in the city of St. Louis, United States, encountered. The volunteers received a call from a trucker who told them that he had found a box with three small puppies on the side of the road .
According to the driver, despite the fact that he observed them from afar, since he had to continue on his way, the puppies looked in a deplorable state, very weak and scared . Immediately, the group of benefactors of the animals was present at the site.
When they saw the scene, the rescuers took a while to confirm the information provided by the bus driver. However, unfortunately, they realized that it was indeed three furry newborns that were left there in very poor condition , by someone who quickly got tired of them.
“These babies are so miserable. They are scared and hurt after being abandoned this morning. We will do everything we can to make sure they live a long and beautiful life,” a spokesperson for Stray Rescue of St. Louis said.
In view of the seriousness of the situation in which the animals were found, the rescue personnel quickly transferred them to the shelter . Once they were safe, we proceeded to feed them properly with a bottle.
After they regained some of their weight and energy , they received appropriate medical treatment to heal their wounds, still open and infected , in some cases. This made the specialists presume that the puppies could be suffering from other diseases. Fortunately, together they have found joy and health again.
“They were in very poor condition. We discovered that they had open wounds, infected in some cases. This could mean that they were suffering from other types of health problems”, added the veterinarians.
For their part, everyone at the shelter agreed that, due to Christmas Day and the physical characteristics of the animals, the find was the product of someone who received the cute animals as a gift but Obviously they weren’t too interested. Now, they are waiting for a real home where they are loved as they deserve.
